Micromax Canvas 4 price and specifications leak again with more details

The specifications for the much-awaited Micromax Canvas 4 smartphone have surfaced yet again, this time from AndroidOS.in website. Micromax might have put up the phone for pre-order on June 28 itself, but the exact specifications are still a mystery. Their e-Store doesn’t reflect much details about the phone as of yet.

The latest leaked specifications of Micromax Canvas 4 are:

  • Display: 5-inch 720p IPS display, instead of the 1080p resolution reported earlier

  • Processor: MediaTek (MT6589) quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, instead of the 2.0 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 quad-core processor

  • RAM: 1 GB; it was reported to be 2 GB earlier

  • Storage: 16 GB internal storage with microSD card support for up to 32 GB external memory; internal storage was leaked to be 8 GB earlier

  • Primary Camera: 13 MP; same as before

  • Secondary Camera: 5 MP; there was doubt before between 3.2 MP and 5 MP

  • Thickness: 8.9 mm

  • Weight: 145 g

  • Operating System: Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)

  • Battery: 2,000 mAh; it was leaked to be 3,000 mAh earlier

All these specs point towords the BLU Life One, which was launched in April this year.  Perhaps this is a re-branded version of the same phone sold in India. The BLU Life One is priced at 230 EUR, which translates to around 17,700 INR.

Thin and slim!

Thin and slim!

The specifications seem to be a lot less powerful when compared to the ones leaked before. It is not yet known how reliable their “trusted sources” are, but the new specifications at least make sense when seen from a price to performance point-of-view. Though this phone is hyped up to be a high-end flagship from Micromax, they surely cannot make it so powerful that customers have to pay a premium for it.

The price of this smartphone is expected to lie in between 16,000 and 17,000 Indian rupees; the final price would be made public on 8th July when the phone would finally launch. The website also reports that Micromax is in a fix to price it competitively, but can’t due to the value of rupee deprecating.

Micromax Canvas 4 specifications and pictures leaked before launch

Micromax is all geared up to release the next version of a model that fetched them all the name and fame.  Behold the Micromax Canvas 4! The Micromax Canvas 4 is expected to be a head turner just like all its other predecessors (a true budget offering) which have given us some really great smartphone features that otherwise one would have to pay a whopping high amount of money to experience. But does this model really follow the same path of being a budget smartphone or do we have surprises ahead of us?

Micromax Canvas 4-4

Micromax Canvas 4 leaked specifications:

  • Expected screen size is 5″ HD (give or take a few millimeters)

  • Screen resolution is 1280×720

  • Internal storage is 16GB ( a 32 gig can be expected  because bigger is better)

  • It will run on MediaTek’s MT6589 quad-core processor

  • The Primary camera is a 13 MP shooter, and the secondary camera which is actually a great surprise is 5MP with HD video recording capabilities

  • RAM is 1GB ( this might be a bit of a let down on the part of Micromax. If it was 2GB, it’d have the power to kill many quad-core phones out there in the market).

  • The battery is 2100 mAh (which would really not be enough with all those people using your Android phone for gaming)

  • It will run on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

  • Will be priced between the range of  18,000-23,000 Rs ($300-$390) (surprisingly a bit costly)

Micromax Canvas 4 teaser:

Conclusion:

We feel that the pros to this phone would be that it has a 13MP camera, a 5MP secondary camera which is quite unexpected and a quad-core processor. But the real cons would be 1GB ram and the price. It’s a bit too pricey in that range for the features. I personally feel that people who don’t care for air play and gesture control can just really forget the idea of spending a lot on the galaxy S4 and rather buy this phone. A word of caution! Watch out for the RAM – it might just bite you back if you overload it.

Micromax Canvas 4 is coming soon and pre order starts from 28th June.
